Narrowbody comparison

Airbus A320 vs Boeing 737

The A320 and 737 fill the same short-haul role, so size and livery rarely settle the question. Read the face first, then confirm with the engines and wingtips.

What to look for

01

Cockpit and nose

The A320 has a rounder nose and a smoother, mask-like cockpit outline. The 737 has a more pointed nose and more angular windscreen geometry.

02

Engine shape

Classic 737 engines sit close to the ground and look flatter underneath. A320 nacelles are usually rounder. This clue changes across newer generations, so confirm it elsewhere.

03

Wingtips and gear

Check the exact variant: sharklets and split-tip winglets are useful generation clues. The 737's nose gear also sits visibly farther forward beneath the cockpit.
