Who is responsible
Rat Systems is the controller of personal information handled by WhatPlane Quiz. Contact us at support@ratsystems.uk with a privacy question or request.
Information we collect
- Account information: email address, authentication identifiers and basic profile details supplied by Google or email sign-in.
- Learning information: answers, progress, mastery, streaks, Fuel, practice history, entitlements and Logbook entries.
- Payment information: subscription, trial and purchase status, Stripe customer references and transaction records. Stripe handles card details; WhatPlane does not store full card numbers.
- Device information: essential session data, local app preferences, diagnostics and security information such as IP address and browser type.
- Location: only when you choose to use nearby-aircraft features and grant browser permission. Saved locations and recent searches may remain on your device.
How and why we use it
We use information to provide accounts, sync progress, run lessons and practice, fulfil purchases, prevent fraud and abuse, answer support requests, secure the service and understand product reliability. Our legal bases may include performing our contract with you, legitimate interests in operating and improving WhatPlane, legal obligations and consent where required.
Storage on your device
WhatPlane uses browser storage for progress, preferences, session continuity and a limited product-event queue. This storage is needed for the app to work, including for guests. We do not use behavioural advertising cookies.
Who processes information
We use service providers including Supabase for authentication and database services, Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for domain and delivery services, and infrastructure providers used to host the app. They process information under their own security and privacy commitments. Information may be processed outside the UK; where required, appropriate transfer safeguards are used.
Retention and security
We keep account and learning information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for support, security, accounting or legal obligations. We use access controls and row-level database policies, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your information, or object to certain uses. You may withdraw consent for optional location access through your browser. Email support@ratsystems.uk; we may need to verify your identity. UK users may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children
WhatPlane is designed with privacy-conscious defaults but is not intended to collect more information from children than is necessary to provide the service. If you believe a child has supplied information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
Changes
We may update this policy when the product or law changes. Material changes will be explained in the app or by email where appropriate, and the effective date above will be updated.
